The Maintenance mode scheduler tool written by Tim McFadden has been updated to version 4.
Here are the new features:
Multi-select Computers This has been the most requested feature as end users often want to schedule multiple computers at a time without having to create groups.
Multi-select Computers in Integrated dashboard Now you can select multiple computers in the dashboards without getting an error
New Search in Computers and Groups Now instead of scrolling up in down the list you can just start to type in the name of the group or computer and results will be filtered.
One Click MM now accepts parameters Some environments One Click MM was not working as the client security was high or there were DNS issues. Now you can just add the computer as a parameter.
New Configuration backup tool for easier upgrades Now you can back your configuration and upgrade to the latest version of SCOM 2012 Maintenance Mode Scheduler with have to reconfigure all of your settings.
An issue to be aware of when you package your SCOM agent with your server build image is that when the server is built a certificate is generated for the agent to use, this certificate resides in the Operation Manager Certificate Store. If the server is then renamed due to it having a temporary build name you will see the below error in your Operations Manager event log.
Event: 7022 Source: HealthService
The Health Service has downloaded secure configuration for management group <MG Name>, and processing the configuration failed with error code Keyset does not exist(0x80090016).
Re-installing the agent will fix this issue but there is a simpler solution by Gerrie Louw, open your certificate MMC, navigate to the Operation Manager Store and delete the certificate, then restart your Healthservice.
The symptoms can occur with all versions of the SCOM / MMA agent under the agent packaged with a server image scenario.
Yesterday a new version of the PKI Certificate Verification management pack was released by Raphael Burri, version 1.2.1.3 contains the following changes:
This update is mostly about more powerful filtering options for the certificate discoveries
It is now possible to use regular expressions to:
Include / Exclude based on “Subject”
Include / Exclude based on “Issuer”
Exclude based on “Enhanced Key Usage” OIDs
Note that the filters will have to be based on the exact string output of the certificate objects as presented in PowerShell. Hence check those before attempting to write RegEx filters using:
A name that that synonymous with monitoring VMware in the System Center Space, Veeam has now expanded their capabilities to give us the same depth and richness of features when monitoring Hyper-V.
Previously I wrote about the beta for the new Veeam Management Pack™ v7 adds support for Hyper-V. Well it has now been released and Veeam even has a special offer, you can get it for free!
“Limited Time Offer! Register today and get up to 100 sockets of Veeam Management Pack v7 Enterprise edition to manage your Hyper-V environment at no cost! Offer ends December 31, 2014.”
Here is a quick recap of the new features in v7:

I came across a great article on TechNet which is essentially a compilation of useful SCOM information, it includes everything from the basics and key concepts, to deployment guidelines and information on how to configure and use different features.
Update Rollup 2 for SCOM 2012 R2 has been released and is availible for download here.
The update fixes the following issues:
Issue 1
This update rollup makes the stored procedure performance aggregate more robust against out-of-range values.
Issue 2
Adding multiple regular expressions (RegEx) to a group definition causes an SQL exception when the group is added or run.
Issue 3
Web applications fail when they are monitored by the System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 APM agent.
Issue 4
Service Level Objectives (SLO) dashboards sometimes load in several seconds and sometimes take minutes to load. Additionally, the dashboard is empty after it loads in some cases.
Issue 5
Operations Manager Console crashes when you try to override the scope in the Authoring pane.
Issue 6
The System Center Operations Manager console is slow to load views if you are a member of a custom Operator role.

Operations Manager – UNIX and Linux Monitoring (Management Pack Update)
Issue 1
All IBM WebSphere application servers that run on Linux or AIX computers are not automatically discovered by the Management Pack for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) if multiple application servers are defined in a single WebSphere profile.
A while ago I had an issue at a customer where their SCOM console would experience huge performance degradation at random intervals.
This is a slow and complex situation to troubleshoot which is why I am glad to see a comprehensive and well laid out Troubleshooting plan from Marnix Wolf. This is a must read to better understand the areas that can impact your SCOM environment performance and more importantly your user experience, as people don’t want to use a console that’s slow.
A new version of the PKI Certificate Verification management pack has been released by Raphael Burri, version 1.2.0.210 is exclusively for SCOM 2012 and contains the following changes:
SCOM 2012 / 2012 R2 support only (the legacy MP 1.0.1.20 is still available for use on SCOM 2007).
main monitoring script now uses PowerShell instead of VB Script, making it compatible with any system locale and easier to maintain.
